Farecast to give you predictions on ticket pricing
I was reading searchblog today after a few days away from the scene and picked up the Farecast story. I also had to read TechCrunch’s take on it since the link was also included on John’s blog.
I love all the information about this potential service and will most definitely try the private beta if I am invited. The airline industry has been always on the upper hand. Giving the consumer some tools to take advantage of the system will definitely make it a healthier experience that will most likely produce competing models and better prices overall.
It looks like Southwest will not be included in the data because Southwest simply does not like to share its data like other carrier do. This fact made Arrington kinda give up on the service. I think Farecast will do well regardless of the lack of Southwest options. If you fly southwest then you will continue to do it the same way. I simply refuse to be part of a cattle at boarding time and would rather pay a little more for an assigned seat but that’s me and you may have your own view on the situation. Comments are welcome.
