March 2007

Because we’re on the West Coast, the identity of the outgoing American Idol contestant is already on the Internet. The show doesn’t start for another half-hour, but I already know Chris Sligh is gone.

I didn’t write a post last night because I was offline. I did catch some of the performances, notably Melinda Doolittle who was fantastic AND Blake Lewis who made me melt with his rendition of The Cure’s “Love Song.”

So here’s my epiphany:

I don’t want LaKisha to win American Idol 6.

I don’t want Melinda to win either.

Both of these women are in a league of their own, as Simon has said more than once. This means that with the exposure they’ve already received, both LaKisha and Melinda can have successful singing careers.

In fact, let’s stop voting for them so they can get started with the professional singing careers that they deserve.

By eliminating the two most talented contestants on the show right now, let’s level the American Idol 6 playing field.

I’d rather see Blake and Jordin duke it out. I want to see how far spoiler Sanjaya can go.

Just my thought for the week.

Oh, and speaking of Sanjaya… His faux-hawk left me speechless. A friend told me he was “horrible.” Another said his “po-hawk” (ponytail mohawk) was “terrible.” And yet, I’m still rooting for him to stay. And with Chris Sligh falling out, we have another week to anticipate Sanjaya’s next hair-raising surprise.

And one last thing. Gwen Stefani’s agent must’ve made some kind of deal with American Idol so that she only appears for a cumulative total of seven minutes on the show or something. Sheesh. Here I was, waiting for weeks for her to guest star and it was flat and generic.

Where’s Lulu? Let’s get Lulu back instead.
