Speaking of consumer marketing and since I’ve been visiting Wella’s blog lately, I had to share this with all of you since I was the target and it really worked:

As you may have read on my blog in the past, I own a MINI COOPER, um actually a proud owner [ordered it online and custom built every single piece I could change ].

The marketing materials I get once in a while are so different from any other car maker, actually any other company period. Mini has a private customer lounge only accessible by Mini owners, you need your VIN number to access that area. A wealth of information is exchanged between owners around the world. You can upload as many pictures as you like, write your bio, testament, adventures, you name it, it’s all there.

Now, eventually you’d be busy with everyday life like I have been and you forget to visit. They know how to get you sucked back in. I received a few days ago a small black box from MINI. It’s been sitting on my desk at work for about 2 weeks now (I do get busy, sis I mention that? LOL). Finally today i opened it. Well, before i open it, I totally digged the message printed on the backside:

If someone asks what’s in the secret black box, don’t panic. Just respond coolly and confidently with the answers provided below:

1. “Is this box black? I would have said navy.”

2. “Maybe if MINI wanted you to know they would have sent you one.”

3. “Whatever it is it’s probably not some secret MINI program for owners.”

4. “No hablo ingles.”

5. “I’m in the MINI cardboard-Box-of-the-month Club.”

6. “Oh, it’s just a box full of none-of-your-business.”

Inside the box is a well designed book shaped box with a super secret decoder card, a magic window Dekryptor and some 3D glasses. They invited me to visit the owner’s lounge to find out how to properly use my new tools.

How smart is that? do you think i will visit that website? you bet! that’s where I’m headed after I post this message.
