Help me understand this please. I am not an expert in U.S. history but I recently studied about 300 or so questions (and answers) regarding this topic. Now if I remember correctly the government branches are separated in order to prevent any conflict of interest right? so if the Executive branch is questioned about something serious, the judicial branch should take its course and investigate by law.

According to the Wired blog here, the Feds will invoke the State Secrets Privilege against the class action lawsuit on AT&T that alleges the Telcom has collaborated with the government’s secret spying on American citizens.

Am I reading this right? Does this mean they could do this regardless of any laws and get away with it. Is this part of democracy? I’m a bit confused. it seems to me that the voice of the people is getting squashed. Those are the same people who put the goverment officials in place. Excuse me while I try to go help my voting neighbors with pulling daggers out of their backs.
